Responsibilities
* Oversee all aspects of hazardous/hazmat materials from start to finish, including identifying hazardous waste, packaging, preparing shipping documents, and arranging for disposal.
* Gather samples from various projects for analysis in-house and with a state-certified laboratory.
* Perform all in-house analysis for samples at our WWTP facility, including API, flash point, spectrometry, treatability, and water content.
* Conduct quarterly sampling of WWTP effluent to ensure compliance with permits.
* Maintain all Oil Spill Response contracts with facilities in the Hampton Roads area.
* Respond to emergency response calls as needed, providing detailed reports including manhours, equipment, and timelines.
* Manage inventory of response equipment at the facility.
* Update USCG Sector manuals annually, submit for approval, document approvals, and create new manuals as needed.
* Compile BOA reports for USCG response jobs.
Required Experience/Education
* Maintain a valid State Driver's License.
* Pass background screenings for badges such as TWIC, DBIDS, etc.
* 5+ years of applicable work experience.
* Extensive knowledge of environmental laws and regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
* Background in chemistry related to hazardous materials/waste.
* Initial and annual refresher training in hazardous waste management (RCRA).
* Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems and auditing requirements.
Additional Experience/Education
* 40-hour HAZWOPER training and annual 8-hour refresher.
* U.S. DOT Hazardous Materials Training.
