Overview

This role is for LumiraDx, working closely with our R&D Team, with the view of moving to 24/7 shifts. You will work alongside a trained Scientist with responsibility for ensuring delivery of consistently high quality particle and protein based reagents to Production through routine manufacture of commercially released assays, and to complete validation of new assays into the manufacturing department that meet Design for Manufacture and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure raw material and consumable availability for new and existing processes, creating documentation where required and communicating with Supply Chain
* Support the design, execution and analysis of experiments for improving reagent manufacturing operations
* Work in collaboration with R&D to introduce new processes to manufacturing and roll out effective training
* Provide feedback and evaluation support to R&D to aid delivery of suitably robust processes and test methods
* Prepare process buffers and stock solutions to allow reagent manufacturing and validation schedule to be met
* Manufacture assay reagents safely, efficiently in line with schedule and current SOPs and WIs to meet strip production requirements
* Evaluate performance of raw and in-process materials at critical stages of manufacture and carry out final formulation testing
* Support the purchasing of appropriate equipment and the validation activities for the manufacture and testing of reagents
* Schedule routine calibration, maintenance and running of laboratory and analytical equipment and support external supplier maintenance activities as required


About You / Qualifications

* Minimum of Master’s Degree level qualified in Chemistry or Biochemistry
* Experience working within a laboratory environment in academia or industry following good lab practices and confidence to work without supervision
* Ability to create and follow complex experiment instructions and accurately record data and outcomes
* Good at problem solving and troubleshooting
* Computer literacy, data analysis interpretation skills and good attention to detail
* Good communication, personal task management skills and high self-motivation
* Can work well within a group environment
* Knowledge of in-process testing and characterisation techniques such as electrochemical, fluorescent and particle analysis methods (e.g. Flow Cytometry, Dynamic Light Scattering)
* Knowledge of coupling chemistries and protein conjugation and their manufacturing techniques at varying scales such as FPLC and TFF/Hollow fibre filtration
* Knowledge of Micro/nano-particles and their function in immunoassays


Location & Schedule

Alloa, Scotland, United Kingdom. The role will initially work across multiple sites including Glasgow and Stirling, on days (Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:30). Future plans include being based predominantly at the Glasgow manufacturing site with a shift pattern yet to be defined, with a view of moving to 24/7 shifts.
