Job Title: Business Architect
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Architect to join our Central Architecture Function on a 6-month contract. The position is predominantly based in Edinburgh, with the option of working in Manchester, and follows a hybrid working model. As part of the Group Architecture team, you will report to the Principal Architect and Head of Business Architecture.
Responsibilities
1. Define current and target-state operating models, including business capabilities, value streams, processes, and organisational impacts.
2. Design and evaluate customer journeys and service models for pensions and investments.
3. Support investment cases, option analysis, and transition trade-offs, working closely with finance, risk, and programme leadership.
4. Ensure designs incorporate risk management, regulatory compliance, and business controls.
5. Produce clear architecture artefacts, such as capability models, BPMN, and value streams, to support governance and delivery.
6. Communicate complex changes clearly with senior leaders and delivery teams, turning ambiguity into actionable decisions.
Essential Skills
7. Experience in business architecture, enterprise design, or strategic business analysis.
8. Strong capability in financial modelling, investment analysis, and option evaluation.
9. Understanding of risk, regulatory, and control frameworks in regulated environments.
10. Proven Experience designing customer journeys and journey frameworks.
11. Skilled in business architecture modelling techniques.
12. Strong facilitation and communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
