Hays Education are currently working with a number of Secondary Schools around Greater Manchester who will be requiring School Technicians to cover a variety of subjects including Science, Art and Design Technology. This work will be on a full-time temporary basis from September throughout the academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in a school environment, particularly those considering a future in teaching or education support.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Prepare, set up, and maintain equipment and materials for practical lessons
2. Support teaching staff during demonstrations and practical sessions
3. Ensure health and safety standards are upheld in classrooms and prep areas
4. Maintain stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
5. Assist with displays, exhibitions, and student projects
6. Provide technical support to students during lessons
7. Clean and store equipment safely after use
8. Support departmental administration and resource organisation
Key Skills/Experience:
9. A degree in a relevant subject ( Art & Design, Fine Art, Food Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Product Design)
10. Strong organisational andmunication skills
11. A proactive and flexible approach to supporting teaching and learning
12. Awareness of health and safety in a school or lab environment (training can be provided)
13. Previous experience in a school or educational setting is desirable but not essential.
