Overview
Howard Tenens are currently recruiting a Regional General Manager to join our Northern region. Reporting to the National Head of Logistics, you will play a key part in ensuring a professional and consistent approach to the management of your team, customers, and supplier relationships. You will be responsible for leading the management and development of all aspects of the company’s logistics operation, providing direction and leadership to direct reports within the operational areas of the business. In addition, to work as part of the company’s Board team contributing to the running of the business and the specification, development, and implementation of company strategy in pursuit of profitable and sustainable company growth.

Responsibilities
* Leadership and Strategy Execution: Lead and inspire a large team across multiple sites to achieve operational targets and strategic goals aligned with the company\'s vision and values
* Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient and effective warehouse operations, optimising workflows and resource allocation to meet customer demands and business objectives
* People and Development: Foster a positive and engaging work culture centered around our operational pillars. Implement strategies for talent development, coaching, and succession planning to nurture a high-performing team
* Health and Safety: Prioritise and enforce rigorous health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
* Customer Service: Drive a customer-centric approach, continuously enhancing service levels and responsiveness to exceed customer expectations
* Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, implementing initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and streamline processes
* Financial Management: Oversee the financial performance of sites, managing budgets, analysing P&L statements, and implementing strategies to maximise profitability
Qualifications and experience
* Proven experience 5+ years in a senior management role within logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team
* In-depth understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics processes
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset
* Demonstrates success in driving operational excellence and delivering business results
* Passion for creating a positive and inclusive work environment focused on employee development and engagement
* Proficiency in financial analysis and budget management
* Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or related field; advanced degree preferred
* International CPC preferred
* \u2018O\u2019 Licence holder experience preferred
* Play a leading and influential role in the current operation and the future development of the business
* Ensure that the business absolutely complies with the spirit and meaning of all relevant legislation to deliver an operation that values safety as the basis for a high quality, profitable business
* Ensure the achievement of budgeted financial performance from all transport, warehouse and logistics operations
* Develop strong, open and constructive relationships with key internal stakeholders and key external customers across the business
* Ensure that the service levels to internal and external customers are achieved. This will include both contracted service levels and general service levels that the business targets to achieve
* Manage all direct reports to ensure that actions are agreed, appropriately and successfully delegated to an appropriate level within the business. Integral to this is the need to manage personal development of colleagues across the business
* Manage operational and commercial issues that are escalated as required
* Liaise with direct reports and the wider business to drive the continued professional development of colleagues
* Develop a clear growth and succession plan within the operation (transport, warehouse and logistics) to support the growth of the business
* Sign-off the regular development of appropriate operational Handbooks, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
* Involvement with escalated disciplinary matters and appeals as required from time to time
