This is a rewarding opportunity to support students who may struggle in traditional classroom settings and thrive through hands-on, active learning. About the role As an Outdoor Education TA, you’ll support students both inside and outside the classroom—delivering and assisting with physical activities, nature-based learning, and structured outdoor sessions. You’ll work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to build positive relationships, encourage engagement, and help students develop confidence, teamwork, and emotional resilience. This role is ideal for: Sports coaches or youth workers looking to transition into education. Individuals passionate about inclusive learning environments. Anyone with a background in outdoor education or mentoring young people. You’ll need to be adaptable, patient, and confident managing behaviour in a calm, positive way. About the school This SEMH provision supports secondary-age pupils who often face barriers to learning due to trauma, mental health challenges, or behavioural difficulties. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment where staff work collaboratively to meet students’ academic and emotional needs. Outdoor learning is a key part of the school’s approach, helping students re-engage with education and develop crucial life skills. Requirements To be considered for this role, you will: Have experience working with young people in a coaching, education, or support capacity (5 days essential). Be confident delivering or assisting with physical activity sessions. Be a team player with a positive, flexible approach. Be committed to supporting pupils with additional needs, including behaviour and emotional regulation.
