Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Project Management team, working with partners across the system to improve outcomes within cancer services, particularly urgent cancer care and acute oncology. The post holder will support trusts, build strong stakeholder relationships to support transformation projects, and work with clinical leadership forums, local partners and patients to deliver best practice, value, experience and outcomes for patients. The role is based at Aintree Hospital with travel to trusts across the Cheshire and Merseyside region.
Main duties
The post focuses on core areas including:
* Data Alignment: Ensure consistency and alignment of Somerset data fields across CMCA teams to enable accurate data capture.
* Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop SOPs and educational tools to guide data capture, submission and reporting.
* Collaboration and Liaison: Work with regional business intelligence and cancer performance teams to support accurate data reporting using Somerset.
* Compliance: Aid local teams to align with Cancer Outcomes and Services Data (COSD) requirements and ensure governance via local cancer performance teams.
* Oversight and Submission: Ensure AO data is submitted to the AO Clinical Quality Group for oversight and continuous data quality improvement.
* Impact: Contribute to development of a regional AO dataset and overall improvement of urgent cancer care services.

Job responsibilities
* Project management and day-to-day running of one or more large-scale, complex transformation projects.
* Set up and planning of projects, including steering groups, assurance function, project teams and documentation using LUHFT PMDocumentation and recognised PM methodologies.
* Identify resources to enable delivery and ensure delivery on time and to budget.
* Ensure project reporting adheres to the programme governance framework.
* Ensure effective communication to all stakeholders.
* Identify and manage risks associated with each project.
* Manage change brought about by the project effectively and efficiently.
* Provide expert PM advice and support to staff and teams within the CA and partner organisations.
* Contribute to development of the Programme Management Office (PMO) and lead on specific complex projects.
* Maintain knowledge of local, regional and national projects that are current and pending.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: Masters Degree or equivalent
* Essential: Formal PM qualification (PRINCE2 Practitioner or MSP Foundation) or demonstrable substantial project delivery experience
* Desirable: ITIL Foundation
Experience
* Essential: Experience managing a series of complex, large inter-related projects or substantial clinical experience for projects requiring clinical expertise; experience of managing a team
* Essential: Proficient in MS Office applications; ability to work with colleagues at all levels including clinicians; ability to assimilate new technical knowledge quickly
* Essential: Teaching and presentation skills; experience of change in organisations without direct line management responsibility; analysis of non-routine data
* Desirable: NHS environment experience; understanding of IT systems to support patient care

* Essential: Specialist knowledge and substantial experience of working in a project environment
Skills
* Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills; strong oral and written communication
