A well-established and growing manufacturing group based in Chepstow is seeking an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their management accounting career within a multi-entity manufacturing environment.
This role offers real exposure to operational finance, production costing, and senior-level reporting, making it ideal for someone studying AAT or CIMA.
The Role
You will support the delivery of accurate and timely financial information across the Group, working closely with both finance and operational teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts
* Supporting variance analysis, including production, labour, material and overhead variances
* Preparing accruals, prepayments and payroll journals
* Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes
* Supporting product costing and margin analysis
* Assisting with monthly payment applications and payment certificate reconciliations
* Assisting with stock and WIP reconciliations
* Maintaining and reconciling the Fixed Asset Register
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns and CIS subcontractor returns
* Performing bank, intercompany and balance sheet reconciliations
* Supporting the year-end audit process
* Assisting with monthly payroll preparation
* Processing employee expense claims
* Supporting sales and purchase ledger activities
* Assisting with credit control to help maintain strong cash flow
* Contributing to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Currently studying AAT / CIMA (or part-qualified)
* Experienced in a finance or accounts role
* Confident using Excel and financial systems
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail
* Able to manage deadlines and prioritise effectively
* A strong communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with operational teams
Experience within manufacturing or a multi-entity business would be advantageous, as would experience withing the Construction Industry and knowledge of Sage 50 or Sage 200.
