We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Life Skills Teacher to join our specialist SEMH school in Wallington, Sutton, from January.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate professional who is committed to supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students develop essential life skills that promote independence, resilience and positive engagement with learning and daily life.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, engaging life skills lessons tailored to pupils with complex and high needs
Support students in developing practical, social and emotional skills for everyday living
Create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families and external professionals
Monitor progress and adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience working with high-needs children, particularly within an SEMH setting
Demonstrable experience working specifically as a Life Skills Teacher
Strong behaviour management skills and a trauma-informed approach
A patient, resilient and empathetic manner
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
