Breakfast & After School Club Manager
Salary: £29,000 to £34,000
35 hours per week (with potential for flexibility)
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as our new Breakfast and After School Club Manager based in Strathaven. You will lead and be responsible for the overall development and management of a safe, effective service for out-of-school care for children, including the supervision of staff and the management of finances and resources.
Leading a team of around 18, you will lead staff to manage a provision for children from age 4 to 12, providing them with an exciting programme of play opportunities. Key Responsibilities
· Manage, supervise, and support Breakfast and After School Club (and holiday club during key school holidays) staff to ensure a high level of service for the children
· Ensure the Club complies with guidelines and directives given by the Care Inspectorate
· Ensure all staff work to SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) Codes of Practice, including Post Registration Training and Learning
· Attend and participate in meetings with the Board of Directors to ensure the smooth running of the Club
· Support the Board of Directors to draw up a quarterly Club Development Plan and help monitor progress
· Ensure awareness and knowledge of Club policies/procedures
· Create a stimulating, clean and safe environment, including the outdoor area
· Work with staff to deliver a detailed, weekly plan of play activities which are appropriate, varied and enjoyable, to support the development of children's skills and experiences
· Monitor and evaluate children's responses to activities through observation evaluating and adjusting activities, as appropriate to meet the needs of the children
· Ensure appropriate staff ratios are always maintained, providing rotas of work for all staff, and liaising with the Board of Directors about staff absences
· Monitor the ongoing financial health of the club in conjunction with the accountant and board of directors, escalating any concerns
· Seeking funding for the club and completing grant appplications
· Ensure appropriate equipment and resources are available and in good condition
· Maintain appropriate hygiene standards complying with food handling regulations
Essential Criteria
· Knowledge of Care Inspectorate and Health and Social Care Standards
· HNC, HND or equivalent in Childhood Practice
· Be working towards or be prepared to work towards BA in Childhood Practice
· Proven budget and people management experience
· IT skills, such as email management, Excel and Word
· Excellent communication skills with a passion for continuous learning
Desirable Criteria
· Fundraising experience
· Grant application experience
· Networking skills
· Experience of working with children with complex barriers
· Experience of marketing/social media
· First Aid qualification
· Food hygiene qualification
The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, register with the SSSC and provide two written references. You will be asked to provide proof of your right to work and live in the United Kingdom.
Strathaven After School Club was established in 2000 and is situated within Wester Overton Primary School. The Club is a registered charity (charity number: SC We are a non-profit making organisation and are overseen by a Board of Directors, all of whom have children attending the Club. We currently have children attending from Wester Overton, Kirkland Park, St Patrick's, Glassford, Sandford and Gilmourton primary schools.
