Overview
An opportunity has arrived for the development of the Heart Failure Service at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust with the addition of a further Band 6/7 heart failure nurse specialist. We are looking for an experienced, flexible and motivated nurse to join our small friendly team.
The successful candidate would ideally be a qualified non-medical prescriber (NMP), ideally with heart failure experience. Candidates with heart failure experience but have not completed the NMP will also be considered, with recruitment as Band 6, undertaking NMP and then upgrading to Band 7.
Responsibilities
* Provide both consultant and nurse-led heart failure clinics, ward outreach and day case heart failure unit duties on a rotational basis across Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital campuses.
* Assist in the continued development and improvement of services for patients with heart failure.
* Work autonomously and alongside a multidisciplinary heart failure team at NUH and liaise with Community heart failure teams to support quality care across Primary and Secondary Care.
* Coordinate inpatient and outpatient services for patients with heart failure and provide clinical advice/support to nursing staff and other health care professionals.
* Assessing and advising on the management of in-patients with heart failure at QMC & NCH; reviewing patients with confirmed and suspected heart failure in the outpatient setting; assessing and treating patients on the day case heart failure unit.
Qualifications and Experience
* Ideally a qualified non-medical prescriber (NMP) with heart failure experience; candidates with heart failure experience but without NMP will be considered with the expectation to undertake NMP and upgrade to Band 7.
* Cardiology experience at Band 6–7 with excellent organisational and leadership skills.
* Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team and in a flexible, motivated environment.
Work Pattern and Location
The successful applicant must be able to work 3 set days, preferably Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; these days can be negotiated. The post holder will be based at QMC & City Campuses.
