About NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the Glasgow City HSCP Northwest Primary Care Pharmacy Team and support the delivery of the Pharmacotherapy Service. As a senior member of the team, you will lead on service developments, operational planning, and the education and development of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers in Primary Care. You will work closely with GPs and multidisciplinary primary care teams to improve medicines management, promote evidence‑based and cost‑effective prescribing, and deliver excellent patient care across GP practices and care homes within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The role also offers the opportunity to further develop a career in Primary Care while working collaboratively with GP Practices, Community Pharmacies, Care Homes, and other care settings.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Base location - Blair Court, 100 Borron Street, covering the Northwest of Glasgow City
* Permanent, Full‑time
* Work Pattern - Primarily site‑based with work across GP practices and care homes in NHS GGC
Key Responsibilities
* Support delivery of the Pharmacotherapy Service in Primary Care
* Lead service developments and operational planning initiatives
* Provide education and development support for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers
* Promote and implement cost‑effective and evidence‑based prescribing practices
* Work collaboratively with GPs and multidisciplinary teams to improve medicines management
* Deliver high standards of patient care across GP practices and care homes
* Support change management and service improvement within Primary Care settings
* Build effective working relationships across GP Practices, Community Pharmacies, Care Homes, and other care environments
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
Essential Qualifications
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Pharmacy Technician qualification: NVQ3 or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent)
* HNC Pharmacy Services or equivalent management/clinical qualification
Essential Experience And Skills
* Post‑qualification experience as a Pharmacy Technician
* Broad understanding of a range of technical pharmacy practices
* Staff management and leadership experience
* Excellent communication, negotiation, organisational, and IT skills
* Ability to influence and implement change effectively
Desirable Experience
* Experience working in Primary Care
* Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
