people aged 16–24 who are currently unemployed or at risk of
long-term unemployment. Based within the Notts County
Foundation Youth Hub and working in partnership with the
Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the postholder will
deliver tailored one-to-one mentoring, employability sessions, and
personal development support.
The role focuses on empowering young people to identify and
overcome barriers to employment, education, or training, while
building their confidence, resilience, and readiness for the world of
work.
The Employability Mentor will work collaboratively with DWP Work
Coaches, local employers, training providers, and community
organisations to create clear progression pathways and achieve
positive outcomes for participants.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Participant Support and Mentoring
Deliver one-to-one and group mentoring sessions to young people referred by DWP or other partners
Conduct holistic needs assessments to create tailored action plans addressing employability,
wellbeing, and personal development
Support participants in developing CVs, job applications, interview skills, and digital literacy
Motivate and inspire young people to engage in volunteering, training, education, or employment
opportunities
Provide ongoing pastoral support, monitoring progress and addressing barriers as they arise
Partnership Working and Employer Engagement
Work closely with DWP Work Coaches to ensure consistent support and information sharing
Build relationships with local employers and training providers to source work experience,
apprenticeships, and job opportunities
Liaise with community organisations to offer wraparound support addressing mental health, housing,
financial, or wellbeing needs
Programme Delivery and Monitoring
Maintain accurate and confidential participant records in line with GDPR and Foundation policies
Record outcomes and progress to meet project targets and reporting requirements
Contribute to monitoring and evaluation reports for funders and partners
Promote the Youth Hub and Notts County Foundation’s wider programmes through outreach and
community engagement

Ensuring Safe Access: Monitor the use of digital resources to ensure compliance with safeguarding
policies and appropriate usage.
Active Monitoring: Regularly review digital activity identifying potential risks such as cyber bullying,
radicalisation, or exposure to explicit material.
Reporting Concerns: Promptly report any breaches, concerns, or risk related to digital safety to the
appropriate safeguarding lead.

Personal Specification
Education & Qualifications
Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Careers Guidance, Coaching, or
Employability.
Experience & Knowledge
Experience of working with young people aged 16–24, particularly
those facing barriers to employment or education.
Knowledge of employability, career development, and the local labour
market.
Understanding of the challenges faced by young people in disadvantaged communities.
Experience of providing one-to-one support, coaching, or mentoring.
Personal Qualities & Attributes
Positive, proactive, and solution-focused attitude.
Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to supporting young
people.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young
people.
Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends if required
Experience of working within a
DWP, charity, or employability-funded programme.
Knowledge of local education, training, and employability
pathways.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Skills & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability
to build trust and rapport.
Strong organisational skills, able to manage a caseload and meet
targets.
Ability to motivate and inspire individuals with differing needs and
aspirations.
Competent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office and digital
platforms for case management.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary
team
