About the job : We have a new position for a Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team in Ellesmere Port. The successful candidate will be accountable for all reactive and proactive maintenance work across the site, ensuring delivery on time and to the highest possible standards. Shifts Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6.00am – 2.30pm Week 2: Monday to Friday, 2.30pm – 10.00pm The Role The role will involve the installation, maintenance, improvement, and repair of all plant and equipment, ensuring production efficiency can be met within a safe, well-presented facility. You will respond to technical issues affecting production and maintain electrical and mechanical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). Requirements Main Duties: Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and problem-solve with minimal downtime to production. Carry out diagnosis of faults, maintenance, and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely, and professional manner, returning equipment to operational service. Ensure all maintenance work is carried out with due regard to the safety of employees, adhering to relevant regulations. Provide reactive and planned maintenance. Report breakdown causes, equipment faults, and concerns to management. Assist with the moving, installation, and repositioning of machines and equipment. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules as necessary. Plan and prioritize workload to support production and ensure efficient use of working time. Complete daily maintenance job sheets and preventative maintenance records. Help build and maintain a cost-effective spare parts store. Essential Criteria: Qualified Multi-Skilled Engineer or Technician, with previous working experience gained in a production environment. Apprentice trained or NVQ Level 2 in Engineering. Minimum of two years’ post-apprenticeship experience. Electrically biased. 17th Edition qualified. Knowledge of PLCs/control panel diagnostics and schematic drawings. Ability to work on own initiative and make confident decisions. Flexible, with willingness to work overtime when required.
