Role
Tooling Design Engineer at a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company. The role involves developing tooling and fixturing, supporting manufacturing processes, and enabling production releases.
Overview
Do you have experience using CREO? Do you have experience producing detailed drawings to BS8888? If your answer is yes, then this could be the role for you.
Responsibilities
* Develop manufacturing tooling within CNC Machining, and design new tooling and fixturing requirements
* Create Technical Requirement Specifications
* Create detailed process instructions
* Create Manufacturing BOMs / routings to aid ease of manufacture
* Support full-rate production of a range of products aligned to business requirements
* Coordinate activities with Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, and other functions
* Support business process reviews and generate/update relevant documentation
* Leverage background in tooling design within a manufacturing environment
* Demonstrate broad manufacturing knowledge (CNC machining, composites, fabrication, mechanical assembly, additive manufacturing)
* Design new tooling from concept through to production release
* Use CAD software (CREO) to generate 3D models and technical drawings
* Use PDM software (Windchill) to manage document release and change
* Produce detailed drawings to BS8888
* Understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (GD&T)
* Apply DFM/A and PFMEA principles
* Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Methodology, and Quality tools
* Prepare manufacturing BOMs, routings, and manufacturing process instructions
Requirements
* Strong tooling design background within a manufacturing environment
* Experience with CREO for 3D models and technical drawings
* Experience with Windchill or similar PDM software
* Ability to produce drawings to BS8888
* Knowledge of GD&T
* Awareness of DFM/A and PFMEA principles
* Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and quality toolsets
* Experience preparing manufacturing BOMs and routings
