Offer description

Overview

Join to apply for the Support Practitioner role at Cornerstone.

We are looking for two new caring, patient and flexible colleagues to join our team in Dunfermline on a permanent part-time basis (16 or 20 hours per week) with relief opportunities available for more flexibility.

About the role

You will join a friendly, supportive team that helps four amazing ladies with profound and complex needs. Your base will be in the ladies’ fully adapted, purpose-built home in Dunfermline, equipped with ceiling hoists and adaptive technology.

As a Support Practitioner, you’ll assist with all aspects of daily living, including attending appointments, meal preparation, finances and housework. Three of the ladies use wheelchairs, so you will provide personal care support as needed. The ladies are non-verbal and have limited communication, so building rapport may take time but is very rewarding.

The team encourages the ladies to live valued lives, with a variety of activities and outings arranged in their home, from arts and crafts to alpaca visits.

Having a full, clean manual UK driving licence is preferred because the ladies have their own mobility cars, but this is not a deal breaker for the right candidate.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference, with a bubbly and outgoing nature and the ability to think creatively when planning activities. A driving licence is desirable but not required for all candidates.

We recruit on values and transferable skills, so no specific experience or qualifications are required to start. We will pay you for your training and provide practical skills training. We will also fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) qualification and yearly SSSC registration fees.

What we need you to bring

* Good communication skills
* A caring attitude and approach
* A positive approach to learning
* Good teamwork skills with the ability to work on your own initiative
* Confidence in the use of computers

Shift Patterns

We provide 24-hour support with shifts typically between 07:00 and 22:00. Rotational duties include waking nights, sleepovers, weekends and public holidays. Shifts may vary depending on needs and activities planned. Sleepovers are not included in contracted hours and attract an additional £100.80 per sleepover; waking nights are paid at the normal hourly rate plus a supplement.
