Project Engineer – Wastewater Network Projects
We’re looking for Project Engineers to join our London Infrastructure team and help transform and modernise our wastewater networks. You’ll be at the forefront of impactful projects — from preventing sewer flooding and reducing river spills to upgrading historic infrastructure that keeps London flowing. You’ll lead technical reviews, contribute to design discussions, and oversee projects from concept through to construction.
What you’ll be doing
* Work alongside a senior engineer, consultants and contractors to oversee the development of several wastewater network projects from solution optioneering, initial concept design and feasibility to contract award.
* Create contractual project briefs and collate pre‑construction information.
* Identify, analyse, mitigate project risks and realise opportunities to enable scope definition and robust pricing by contractors.
* Review pre‑construction surveys, drawings and proposals, raising concerns to senior & lead engineers.
* Ensure detailed design is undertaken by contractors and monitor design changes during construction.
* Provide the Project Team with support during commissioning and asset handover.
* Conduct design reviews, ensuring robust and safe solutions that meet business and operational requirements.
* Act as the key contact for CDM Designer or Principal Designer in the initial stages, overseeing contractors to meet client responsibilities.
* Deliver a zero‑compromise health and safety attitude to all contractors working on your project.
* Work on a hybrid basis at Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment works, with office and site visits up to 2‑3 times a week.
We’re looking for you to
* Have a background in Civil Engineering and hold an engineering qualification or degree.
* Be Incorporated or working towards Incorporated status with a relevant professional organisation; other professional qualifications will be considered.
* Coordinate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously, including internal colleagues, site employees and external contractors.
* Have experience working with Highways, Local Councils and Network Rail (highly advantageous).
* Understand wastewater infrastructure projects (design & rehabilitation) in urban & environmentally sensitive areas.
* Understand the principles of project delivery in process industries and related industrial processes.
* Be familiar with Health & Safety in the Construction industry, specifically CDM Regulation 2015.
* Hold a full, clean driving licence and have access to appropriate transportation.
