Job Title: Apprentice Videographer & Photographer
Reporting To: Directors
Job Location: Manchester, City Centre
Salary: £120 per week + Annual bonus
Holidays: 20 Days Holiday (plus Bank Holidays).
Note: This vacancy is part of the government apprenticeship programme.
Responsibilities
Apprentice Videographer & Photographer - Job Description
* As a member of a small team, communicate with team members and clients to ensure projects are completed effectively and efficiently.
* Film, take photographs, and edit using available hardware and software; work with minimal direction and be comfortable taking the creative lead.
Videography
* Assemble raw footage for input into the computer; create videos for web.
* Assist with expanding videography services and developing sources of new business.
* Assist with installing and maintaining hardware and software.
* Manage projects from initial contact through to updates and reviews; meet agreed deadlines.
* Communicate regularly with team members and clients via email/telephone.
* Conceive and implement creative ideas; consult with directors/clients throughout post-production.
* Create rough cuts and determine final editing decisions; develop concepts into production-feasible plans.
* Digitally cut files to assemble sequences; experiment with styles and graphic elements.
* Manage personnel on shoots and ensure high-quality output; oversee audio/video engineering and editing progress.
* Research potential clients and assist in marketing opportunities; suggest or select music.
* Work independently and as part of a team; use social media to engage potential clients and analyse engagement.
* Collaborate with the director of videography and director of audiography to deliver projects technically; produce high-quality video under tight deadlines.
* Write voiceover/commentary as appropriate.
Photography
* Assist with creating and updating images for print and web; communicate regularly with team members.
* Assist with managing projects from beginning to end; manage outsourced photographers/designers as needed.
* Install and maintain hardware and software; meet deadlines; work independently and as part of a team.
* Assist with expanding photography services and developing new business opportunities.
* Retouching, processing, uploading, scanning, watermarking, and key wording images; operate professional imaging equipment.
* Conception and implementation of creative ideas; manage image archive and cataloguing; organise shoots.
* Understand copyright considerations and research potential clients; follow up with prospective clients by phone.

Person Requirements
We are looking for someone with a keen interest in photography for print and web, with experience using camera and editing software. Strong communication, creativity, and a willingness to learn are essential.
Essential Skills / Experience / Qualities
* No formal qualifications required
* Experience using photography and video equipment
* Experience using computers; Microsoft Office products
* Experience using websites and sending emails
* Experience editing videos with industry-standard software (e.g., Final Cut, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere/After Effects)
* Experience filming and editing, editing images
* Attention to detail; a passion for video and photography
* Willingness to learn technical skills; aptitude with cameras and audio equipment
* Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team; ability to manage multiple projects
* Good IT, organisational, and time management skills; prioritisation ability
* Able to travel occasionally; positive, proactive, and resilient attitude
* Not afraid to engage in projects outside traditional skill sets

Apprentice Scheme
This vacancy is part of the government apprenticeship programme. The successful candidate will spend one day a week at college and four days a week in our offices gaining first-hand experience. The Apprenticeship covers Advanced Level in Creative and Digital Media, designed to prepare apprentices to work in the film industry as a Videographer or Photographer. The programme lasts one year and may lead to a full-time graphic design role on completion.
