Sewing Machinist
Our client based in Hitchin, are recruiting for a Sewing Machinist.
The role is a permanent position.
Salary is depending on experience.
Hours 40 hrs week, 8am to 4.45 Mon to Thurs, 8 to 3.30 Fri
Sewing Machinist
Purpose:
Responsible for ensuring that all finished aprons, Thyroid Shields, Sleeves, Gonad Shields, Table Pads, and accessories adhere to work order instructions ensuring that the Quality System is followed and to continuously seek ways to make the work process more efficient.
Sewing Machinist Responsibilities
1. Read Factory Work Order to include “special instructions” and produce aprons according to the specifications.
2. Ensure orders are complete prior to sending the product to the next workstation.
3. Improve work process efficiency’s by communicating ideas and or procedures in sewing.
4. Ensure that aprons being sewn follow a specific sewing instruction.
5. Ensure work is being completed in correct priority order to Daily work schedule.
6. Clarify with Production Supervisor any questions regarding work orders.
7. Maintain a safe, clean work area, to include blowing down the machine and making minor preventative maintenance of machines (e.g., keeping oil levels full, replacing old needles with new, etc.)
8. Additional job duties as may be assigned from time to time by management.
Sewing Machinist Skills
9. Sewing knowledge and knowledge of operation of sewing machines.
10. Good communication and interpersonal skills
11. Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.
12. Ability to independently follow through all assignments to completion.
13. Have a thorough knowledge of the apron-making process, apron styles, products, and customers.
14. Detailed knowledge of company quality policies including work instructions and procedures
Qualifications and Experience
15. At least 2 years of commercial/manufacturing sewing experience preferred but not essential.
