Matchtech is working with a key client to recruit for two DPEs to work on a high-profile railway project in Toronto.
These roles will require the successful candidates to relocate to Toronto.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the project manager and team with project documentation, control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision. The candidate should be comfortable handling multiple tasks, prioritizing effectively.
Responsibilities
1. Implement rail systems and procedures to ensure a cost-effective, high-quality, safe, and environmentally responsible approach to design, commissioning, and other technical activities, compliant with legislation. Liaise with regulators as needed.
2. Engineer projects to meet client standards, specifications, and contracts, ensuring compliance with company standards, specifications, and procedures.
3. Manage engineering activities to deliver schemes that are affordable, meet schedule requirements, and adhere to safety and environmental standards, balancing time, cost, and quality.
4. Use risk assessment techniques and HAZOP analysis for projects, managing environmental aspects per the client's policy.
5. Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.
6. Provide project management advice, including testing, commissioning, and site supervision, ensuring compliance with legislation.
7. Ensure internal and contractor personnel are competent.
8. Review design activities and conduct audits of contractors to monitor safety, environment, quality, and management systems.
9. Perform duties of designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects.
10. Share best practices across project teams.
The Ideal Candidate
1. Experience in signaling engineering, with involvement in multi-discipline design projects.
2. Technical qualifications at HNC/HND level or equivalent.
3. Knowledge of quality assurance processes.
4. Understanding of independent assessment arrangements.
5. Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status or degree-level education.
6. Knowledge of structuring safety cases for projects.
7. Awareness of environmental issues in engineering.
