Morson are recruiting for a Contracts Engineer – Buildings Surveyor to support Estates & Facilities Management function at our clients Glascoed site.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regulated defence environment, contributing to the maintenance, development, and compliance of critical site infrastructure.
Rate £22.69 per hour PAYE
Working Pattern 37 hours per week
Monday – Thursday: 07:15 – 17:00
Friday: Off
Location Glascoed (site-based)
Security Clearance BPSS required
SC clearance to be obtained (in-flight)
The Role Reporting to the Civil Project Engineer, you will support the operation, maintenance, and development of site buildings and infrastructure.
You will play a key role in ensuring all facilities are maintained to a high standard and remain compliant with relevant regulations, whilst supporting both planned and reactive works across the estate.
Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed building condition surveys and inspections
Prepare technical reports, specifications, and feasibility studies
Develop maintenance plans and work packages using asset management systems
Produce CAD drawings, work schedules, and tender documentation
Support contract administration and project delivery activities
Maintain Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and statutory compliance records
Collaborate with engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure disciplines
Assess and oversee property adaptations and improvement works
Ensure delivery of works within budget constraints
Promote and adhere to Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) standards
Support asset management, defect diagnosis, and continuous improvement activities
Project Environment You will operate within a complex manufacturing and defence environment where infrastructure performance is critical to operational success.
The role involves close collaboration with multiple internal engineering teams, capital project functions, and external contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of maintenance and improvement works across the site.
About You Essential:
Experience within commercial or industrial environments
HNC/HND in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
Working knowledge of building regulations and CDM requirements
Desirable:
Experience managing contractors
Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH, SMSTS)
Membership or working towards a professional engineering institution
Experience within a defence or regulated industry environment
