About the Role & Schools We are currently recruiting Trainee Teaching Assistants for permanent, temporary, and long-term supply positions across a network of high-performing and outstanding schools in Newcastle, Gateshead, Northumberland, Sunderland, Durham, and surrounding areas. As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will work in welcoming, inclusive, and well-resourced schools that: Are rated Outstanding or Good by Ofsted Have strong leadership teams and supportive SEN departments Promote positive behaviour policies and high academic standards Offer excellent CPD opportunities for staff Provide nurturing environments for pupils with SEND, SEMH, EAL, and additional needs Encourage creativity, wellbeing, and personal development alongside academic achievement These schools pride themselves on: High-quality teaching and learning Strong pastoral care systems Inclusive SEN provision A collaborative staff culture Excellent safeguarding practices Clear progression pathways for support staff Role Responsibilities As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Supporting students in the classroom on a 1:1 and small-group basis Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management Helping pupils with literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation Supporting students with SEND, SEMH, autism, and additional learning needs Creating a positive, inclusive learning environment Building strong relationships with pupils and staff This Trainee Teaching Assistant role offers real classroom experience, ideal for anyone considering teacher training or a long-term career in education. Location & Hours Locations: Secondary & Middle Schools across the North East Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm Contract Types: Permanent, temporary, and supply roles available Full-time and part-time opportunities Requirements To be considered for a Trainee Teaching Assistant role, you will: Have a genuine passion for working with children and young people Be patient, proactive, and reliable Work well as part of a team Have recent and relevant experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential) Be willing to undertake training as part of our National Teaching Assistant Programme Qualifications are desirable but not essential.
