Abbey School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Playground Mealtime Assistant to join our lunchtime team.
You will play an important role in supporting children during their lunch break — helping them to feel safe, happy and included while they play. This role focuses on supervising pupils outdoors, encouraging positive play, and promoting good behaviour and relationships.
Your main duties will include:
* Supervising pupils in the playground and around the school during lunchtime.
* Encouraging safe, inclusive play and positive social interaction.
* Supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and behavioural needs, using calm and consistent strategies.
* Managing minor incidents and referring concerns appropriately.
* Promoting the school's values and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
* Enjoys working with children and has a warm, friendly manner.
* Can communicate well with both pupils and staff.
* Is patient, fair and confident in managing behaviour positively.
* Has experience or understanding of SEND and behavioural needs (desirable).
* Understands the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality.
Training and support will be provided.
