The Role This position centres on delivering first-class legal advice to an established client base, while also playing an active role in expanding personal and departmental business opportunities. You will take responsibility for complex, high-value matters with a high degree of autonomy and offer guidance, oversight and technical assistance to more junior colleagues where appropriate. This is a fee-earning role focused on overseeing residential conveyancing files from instruction through to completion and post-completion stages. Key Responsibilities Overseeing a diverse caseload of residential property matters, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, new build transactions and shared ownership arrangements. Managing substantial and intricate transactions with minimal supervision. Meeting agreed financial and performance objectives. Preparing and negotiating documentation associated with residential conveyancing. Dealing with Land Registry applications and post-completion requirements. Providing supervision, mentoring and technical support to junior fee earners and support staff. Conducting legal research using appropriate internal and external resources. Ensuring files are maintained in line with regulatory and quality standards, including SRA requirements, the Law Society Conveyancing Protocol, CQS, Lexcel and internal procedures. Maintaining clear, proactive communication with clients, agents, lenders and other stakeholders. Assisting with billing processes and related financial administration. Supporting marketing, networking and wider business development initiatives. Contributing written content for internal communications or external publications where required. Keeping abreast of legal developments, regulatory changes and industry best practice. Opening, closing and archiving files in accordance with firm procedures. Applicant Requirements Qualified Solicitor. Ideally 10 years’ post-qualification experience in residential property law. In-depth understanding of residential conveyancing procedures and property law. Strong awareness of the local residential property market. Sound knowledge of compliance, risk management and regulatory obligations. Commitment to ongoing professional development. Skills Excellent organisational ability and experience managing a substantial caseload. Strong leadership and mentoring capability. Outstanding client care and communication skills, both written and verbal. High-level drafting, negotiation and technical expertise. Commercial awareness with the ability to contribute to client growth and business development. Self-motivated, resilient and capable of working independently. Proficient in IT systems, including case management software. Experience Demonstrated ability to manage a full residential conveyancing caseload independently. Experience dealing with complex and high-value residential transactions. Previous supervisory or mentoring experience desirable. Proven involvement in client relationship management and business development activities.
