Ocean Export Supervisor

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 + benefits
About the Company
Our client is a well-established, independent UK freight forwarder with a strong reputation for reliability, personal service, and long-standing customer relationships. They specialise in tailored sea, air, and road freight solutions and are now looking to strengthen their ocean export team with an experienced Ocean Export Supervisor.
The Role
This is a hands-on supervisory role, ideal for someone currently in an Ocean Export Operator or Senior Export Clerk position looking to take the next step. You’ll lead a small team, manage FCL and LCL shipments from start to finish, and ensure smooth, compliant, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day ocean export operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of shipments
* Supervise and support a small export team
* Liaise with carriers, co-loaders, overseas agents, and customers
* Manage all export documentation (Bills of Lading, invoices, certificates of origin, etc.)
* Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally
* Maintain strong relationships with clients and service providers
Candidate Requirements
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in ocean export freight forwarding
* Good understanding of export documentation and customs processes
* Previous supervisory or team lead experience (or readiness to step up)
* Strong organisational and communication skills
