Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Lead Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering and design, with expertise in various software. As the Lead Designer, you will be responsible for overseeing design projects from conception to completion, ensuring that all designs meet the required specifications and standards. Your role will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that align with project goals.

Duties

* Lead the design process for complex projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
* Conduct root cause analysis to identify design issues and implement effective solutions.
* Utilise Siemens NX for creating detailed designs, models and drawings for tooling, fixtures and lifting systems.
* Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets while coordinating with team members.
* Apply GD&T principles in the creation of mechanical designs to ensure manufacturability.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate mechanical knowledge into design processes.
* Carry out FMEA studies
* Conduct thorough data analysis to inform design decisions and improve project outcomes.
* Writing of technical instructions.
* Effectively communicate project status to senior management and stakeholders.

Experience

* Minimum HNC qualified in relevant mechanical discipline or demonstrated through considerable experience.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in design engineering, specifically in the manufacturing and lifting sectors, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
* Proficiency in CAD software is essential.
* Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
* High level of commercial awareness to ensure design solutions are delivered in a cost effective manner.
* Experience in design and development of bespoke work holding and lifting devices.
* Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics with the ability to read and design circuit diagrams in line with current standards
* Experience with mechanical systems design, construction processes, and laboratory environments is beneficial.
* Excellent mathematical skills for accurate calculations and data interpretation.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while leading design initiatives.
