Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is committed to being a great place to work, where staff are trusted, valued, and supported to make a positive contribution.

The Stockton Youth Justice Team (YJT) received an ‘Outstanding’ inspection rating from HMI Probation in 2021, recognizing effective relationships with children and families. As a Youth Justice Support Worker, you will support children in building positive futures, based on their strengths and needs, through personalised and effective support.

We have two vacancies to join our outstanding Youth Justice Team. The role involves coordinating and delivering interventions and community reparation projects required by children under Referral/Community Orders or Out-Of-Court Disposals. You will need to risk assess all projects and record activities on our case management system.

The position includes some restorative justice work, such as victim contact and mediation sessions, as well as programme and personal development work tailored to children’s needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience engaging with children and families, with excellent engagement, organizational, and communication skills. You will be supported by the Youth Justice Team and should demonstrate initiative and the ability to undertake assigned tasks.

You must understand current legislation and procedures related to Youth Justice and Children’s Services, including contextual safeguarding, diversity, and working with vulnerable groups.

The role is based in the Youth Justice Team within the Early Help, Youth Support, and Youth Justice Service area of Children’s Services.

We offer two posts: one permanent and one fixed-term until 31/03/2025. Secondment opportunities are considered for internal employees, with prior approval from your current line manager.

Flexibility is required, including working evenings and weekends. The role is suitable for flexible working arrangements, including some remote work.
