Anti Social Behaviour Officer

Leicester City Council

* Location: Leicester
* Salary: £19,576-20,885 per year
* Contract: Permanent
* Hours: Full-time

Play a key role in managing and reducing anti-social behaviour across Leicester city non-council housing areas. An exciting opportunity to be a part of a new team working to reduce and tackle anti-social behaviour across Leicester city. Our approach in dealing with anti-social behaviour covers all aspects from prevention to rehabilitation to protection and support of victims and witnesses. As each case is unique so is the way in which each complaint is handled, and actions will depend upon the nature and severity of each incident. An incremental approach has been adopted to manage anti-social behaviour in a consistent and proportionate way. In addition to the incremental approach, you will also use the powers of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act (2014) to resolve complex and high‑risk cases.

Join us to work in partnership with residents, colleagues, elected members, and external agencies such the Police, Victim First and Local Businesses, to identify and reduce anti‑social behaviour, and ensure communities have a safe and secure environment to live in.

This is a part‑time, permanent position working 18.5 hours per week from Wednesday to Friday. However, you’ll be able to work regularly outside of office hours including evenings and weekends. Based in the City Centre, you’ll work from a variety of locations for variable durations as well as from home.

Appointment to this role will be subject to Non‑Police Personnel Vetting to Level 2.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll respond to reports of anti‑social behaviour across the city in non‑council housing areas. You’ll engage with victims, complainants, and perpetrators as well as internal and external partners to manage our response to anti‑social behaviour. You’ll use an innovative and pro‑active approach to manage and resolve a varied caseload of anti‑social behaviour cases. You’ll be able to identify risk and recognise when cases become more complex and require more intensive management or legal action.

What you’ll need

You’ll have knowledge of anti‑social behaviour legislation and locally agreed approaches to tackling it. With good knowledge of council services and other organisations, you’ll understand how they could impact on or help address anti‑social behaviour issues. Using excellent literacy and numeracy skills as well as good attention to detail, you’ll have the ability to prepare and manage evidence, compose official enforcement letters and preparing acceptable behaviour contracts. You will also be a proficient report writer, with the ability to create legal bundles and defend your decisions under legal scrutiny. You will be organised and have the ability to identify risk and regularly re‑prioritise your cases and other duties accordingly. You will also need strong teamwork skills and the ability to engage with challenging and hard to reach individuals.

What we can offer you

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We’ll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from several flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
