Senior Pharmacy Assistant - Production

The closing date is 06 October 2025

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person to work in our busy Pharmacy Production Unit. You will be working as part of a team of pharmacists, technicians and assistants preparing sterile medicines, chemotherapy and antibiotic injections.


Main duties of the job

You must be reliable, hardworking and able to work to high standards of accuracy and precision. You will be expected to assist with stock control and be confident using a computer. Good communication skills, manual dexterity, and a pass (grade A-C/9-4 in GCSE or equivalent) in English, Mathematics, and a Science subject, are essential.

There will be a commitment to regular Sunday and bank holiday working on a rota basis.

Previous experience is preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.

Person Specification


Knowledge and Qualifications

* GCSE pass (A-C) in English, Mathematics and a Science subject
* Understands the issues in handling hazardous materials
* Demonstrated understanding of the principle of GMP and QA in a manufacturing environment


Experience

* Previous experience of working in a hospital environment
* Previous experience of working in a laboratory


Skills and Abilities

* Demonstrated good manual dexterity to undertake fine and accurate manipulative work
* Demonstrated ability to concentrate for prolonged periods of time
* Demonstrated computer skills including email, word processing
* Understands the importance of hygiene standards in the preparation of medicines
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure


Responsibilities towards promoting Equality Diversity and Inclusion

Ensure the risk of infection to self, colleagues, patients, relatives and visitors is minimised by:

* Being familiar with, and adhering to Trust policies and guidance on infection prevention and control.
* Completing all required training and education (both via e-learning and face to face) on infection prevention and control.
* Including infection prevention and control as an integral part of your continuous personal/professional development and included in your annual appraisal
* Taking personal responsibility so far as is reasonably practicable, in helping ensure that effective prevention and control of health care associated infections is embedded into everyday practice and applied consistently.


Specific Requirements

* Ability to sit or stand in a restricted position at a work station such as a bench, laminar flow cabinet, isolator for periods of working time
* Ability to work in areas requiring specialist clothing to be worn such as a cleanroom
* Flexibility with regards to changes in work schedule
* Ready for authorisation completed by cheryl 21.03.25
