Overview
A Tax disputes/Tax Investigations specialist is sought by a dynamic independent firm which specialises in forensic accountancy and tax disputes work. This role could be at any level from Assistant Manager to Senior Manager. The key is that you have sound tax investigation skills gained either in practice or HMRC, ideally with a focus on investigations involving individuals, and you will need a detailed understanding of key HMRC disclosure options, such as the LPC, WDF and CDF.
Responsibilities
* Review disclosure reports prepared by junior members of the team and carry a caseload yourself, as required.
* Work hand in hand with the current departmental head to grow the department during this phase of dynamic expansion.
* Provide autonomy while remaining in a supportive environment.
Qualifications
* At least 5 years of Tax Investigation experience.
* Working knowledge of tax legislation relating to personal income, including self‑assessment, Capital Gains Tax and HMRC’s penalty regimes.
* Professionally qualified or part qualified (AAT, ATT, ACA, ACCA, CTA – ex Inspector of Taxes) or qualified by experience.
* Sound tax investigation skills with a detailed understanding of key HMRC disclosure options such as the LPC, WDF and CDF.
Location and Travel
This role can be based in either the Leeds or Manchester office, or for a more senior hire, remotely with occasional travel to an office.
