Meridell Achievement Center is seeking a versatile Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our team of registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses dedicated to the helping and healing of our children and adolescent patient population.
Meridell Achievement Center is a nationally recognized 134-bed private residential treatment facility that specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents who have emotional, behavioral and neurobehavioral problems. Meridell has been providing exceptional care for our patients for over 50 years. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and outpatient services offer supportive and compassionate care through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients. Our mission is to provide safe, effective, and compassionate mental health and substance use treatment.
The Director of Nursing reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the development, organization, provision, and evaluation of all nursing functions within the facility with 24/7 responsibility for those functions.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
* Utilize sound patient care standards and recognized nursing standards of practice in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and models of nursing care.
* Provide leadership with consideration of the organization as a whole, promoting an atmosphere of respect and encouragement for professional growth for all nursing staff members
* Collaborate with other facility leaders on all matters relevant to the delivery of quality patient care services
* Continually assess the utilization of the collaborative process among nursing staff at all levels and other disciplines/departments to ensure organized, comprehensive, efficient, and effective patient care
* Other duties as reasonably assigned

Qualifications
* Education/Licensure: RN licensed in state of Texas. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with psychiatric emphasis required.
* Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of psychiatric nursing experience with progressive supervisory experience
* Knowledge and Skills: Must be able to define his/her nursing care philosophy and standards of care. Must have knowledge of accepted standards of psychiatric nursing care for children and adolescent patients and ability to provide this knowledge in assessment and planning of care. Must have basic understanding of licensing, regulatory and accreditation requirements. Must have knowledge/expertise in staffing and FTE management and experience in development/management of a departmental budget. Must have basic computer skills including word processing, management of spreadsheets, and communication systems.
* Essential Physical Requirements: Medium physically demanding work, requiring walking, sitting, standing.
