The Role
As a Functional Assessor, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate individuals and understand how their disabilities or conditions impact their work life. Using your clinical expertise, you will gather comprehensive medical histories and conduct physical examinations. You will produce clear, accurate reports for the DWP to determine eligibility for benefits.
The role involves face-to-face and remote assessments via telephone or video calls. You will need to be empathetic, attentive, and capable of asking the right questions while maintaining high standards of practice.
You will have sufficient time for each assessment to ensure accuracy and focus. While working independently, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that offers support and collaboration.
About You
* Registered Nurse, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, or Physio with at least 12 months of recent, broad-based post-registration experience.
* Experience in functional assessment and clinical decision-making is advantageous.
* Active Continuous Professional Development (CPD) on your CV.
* Membership of a relevant professional body.
* Understanding of clinical governance and delivering quality customer service.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with adaptability to changing environments.
* Proficient IT skills and experience with various software.
* Self-aware, committed to professional growth, and maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
* Motivated to provide empathetic, respectful, and sensitive assessments.
* Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and standards.
* Reliable team player willing to support multidisciplinary collaboration.
* Eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
