Working under the leadership and guidance of the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Great Western Hospitals (GWH), the post holder will complete a Level 4 certificate in Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice. The role offers a dynamic and progressive team experience with exposure across different sectors within the hospital setting.
The trainee will undertake in‑depth practical on‑the‑job training, online remote learning, and regional study days under the close supervision of an Educational Supervisor (ES). They will also be provided with 20% off‑the‑job hours (OTJH) and will be expected to conduct significant self‑directed study.
Upon completion, the trainee will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician.
Key training areas include the dispensary, procurement and distribution, and clinical services (patient‑facing environment). Short external placements may also be offered to broaden exposure to other pharmacy roles. Audits will be mandatory to meet Trust standards in all departments.
Responsibilities
* Dispense prescriptions accurately and safely.
* Support clinical services in a patient‑facing environment.
* Assist with procurement and distribution / ward top‑ups.
* Provide medicines information.
* Participate in audits for both the Trust and UEA.
* Contribute to public health campaigns and health & safety initiatives.
* Report incidents and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A/C (new grades 9‑4) or equivalent.
* Flexible working approach and strong time‑management skills.
