Lead Pharmacy Technician – Medicines Efficiency
Lead the way in medicines efficiency and make a real impact! Experienced Pharmacy Technicians with strong leadership skills and a passion for improving patient care are invited to join the forward‑thinking pharmacy team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. This key leadership role involves driving the Medicines Efficiency Programme across the Trust, leading a small team, managing cost‑saving initiatives, and ensuring governance compliance while working closely with pharmacists, clinicians, finance, and procurement teams.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate medicines efficiency projects, including medicines switches and home‑care optimisation.
* Line manage and develop the medicines efficiency team, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
* Analyse prescribing and financial data to identify opportunities for cost savings and report progress to senior leadership.
* Oversee home‑care processes, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and national guidance.
* Provide technical expertise and support to pharmacy and clinical teams.
* Deliver training sessions and support staff development across the pharmacy team.
* Contribute to audits, KPI reporting and governance reviews.
* Maintain ACPT accreditation and support dispensary workflow when required.
Qualifications
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC.
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Pharmacy Services.
* Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).
* Significant experience in hospital pharmacy, including dispensary and medicines management.
* Proven leadership and team management skills.
* Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.
* Strong IT skills and knowledge of governance and audit processes.
Experience & Skills
* Essential experience: significant hospital pharmacy qualification, management experience including managing poor performance.
* Desirable experience: significant experience in medicines efficiency or home‑care, experience leading a change‑management project.
* Essential skills: ability to anticipate difficulties and take appropriate action; excellent knowledge of common computer systems and Microsoft apps including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
* Desirable skills: ability to identify, prioritise and evaluate work with evidence to show.
