The role
As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for supporting the Procurement team through tactical sourcing, purchase order management, inventory oversight, and administrative coordination to ensure smooth and efficient operations within the department.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Support delivery of Babcock’s requirements for military vehicles and MRO spares to meet operational objectives
2. Ensure timely and accurate coordination of parts and resources in line with service commitments
3. Assist with supplier-related tasks, with potential to take on broader responsibilities over time
4. Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes through proactive engagement and learning
5. Develop skills and knowledge to support progression within the procurement and supply chain function.
This role is full time working 37 hours per week and is based on-site at Andover, Hampshire with up to 3 days on-site and the remaining days working from home. This role is a fixed term contract for 52 weeks.
Essential experience of the Assistant Buyer:
Foundational experience in procurement or supply chain operations within a professional organisational setting.
