Waking Night Residential Childcare Support Worker
Contract Type: Casual
Location: Soham, Cambridgeshire
Salary: Up to £14.60 per hour (qualified support worker salary based on Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent)
Specific Hours: 20:00pm-08:00am (12 hour shifts)

Duties and Responsibilities
* Stay awake and alert for the full night shift
* Ensure children's safety and wellbeing throughout the night
* Provide empathy, reassurance and support when needed
* Support personalised bedtime routines and occasional activities
* Keep accurate computer‑based records
* Follow the Philomena protocol for missing children
* Communicate with out-of-hours services and handle calls professionally
* Follow all Area Camden policies and act as a positive role model
* Contribute to the home’s values and adapt to children's changing needs
Essential skills required
* Strong teamwork, energy and enthusiasm
* Knowledge of safeguarding children
* Able to follow tasks, record handovers and maintain policies
* Good written and verbal communication
* Able to listen, engage and act appropriately with children
* Organised with good planning skills
* Willing to work toward a Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification (if not already held)
