Job overview

We are seeking a highly organised individual with strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a genuine enthusiasm for clinical research to join the Peart Rose Research team as an Assistant Research Practitioner.

Previous experience working with cardiovascular patients is essential, along with a demonstrated passion for advancing research within a clinical environment.

Attention to detail is crucial, as accurate data collection is a core component of the role. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of various IT applications and be able to work both independently and collaboratively with maturity and professionalism.

This post is primarily based at Hammersmith Hospital, with some cross-site working expected as needed.

Main duties of the job

1. You will contribute to the objectives of the Trust and the NIHR Research Delivery Network by helping to enhance the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research within the NHS.
2. In this role, you will support the administration of the daily operations of the Peart Rose Research Team, as well as assist with specific research studies under their care.
3. A key aspect of the role involves assisting with the data collection and processing of biological samples, along with undertaking various administrative responsibilities such as maintaining site files and ensuring data compliance with research protocols.
4. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that all research activities uphold the safety and well-being of participants and are conducted in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

Education/Qualification

Essential criteria

5. Diploma level qualification or equivalent training and/or experience in Science or Healthcare or Registered Nursing Associate

Desirable criteria

6. Degree in research or healthcare

Experience

Essential criteria

7. Experience in managing complex information
8. Competent in storing and retrieving electronic data
9. Knowledge of medical terminology
10. Proven ability to work to multiple deadlines
11. Excellent organisational and planning skills
12. Experience of working within cardiovascular research or working within the NHS

Desirable criteria

13. First Aid experience
14. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
15. Understanding of National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), its values, aims, and structure

Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria

16. Willingness to complete the Functional Care Certificate within the first 6 to 12 months
17. Demonstrate a proactive approach to planning and prioritising tasks
18. Flexible attitude to work; demonstrates resilience
19. Proven ability to work effectively as a team member as well as working autonomously
20. Willingness to support the clinical team with patients
21. Willingness to undertake training as required

Desirable criteria

22. Completed Functional Care Certificate
23. Experience in phlebotomy/blood sample taking
24. Experience in sample processing
