Mobile Assistant Janitor (Lock-Up and Alarming Schools)
Based at Kirkcaldy High School, Kirkcaldy. This position involves mobile janitorial duties, cleaning, and school crossing patrols as required.
Permanent vacancy, Monday to Friday, 25 hours per week, on a 52‑week contract.
Salary: £25,604.23 – £26,786.83 per year. Benefits include the Scottish Local Government Living Wage (£13.64 per hour) plus extra payments for shift work, 4‑weekly pay, generous holiday allowance, membership of the Fife Pension Fund (part of the Scottish Local Government Pension Scheme), access to training and qualifications, and local and national discounts.
Responsibilities
* Undertake prescribed cleaning procedures; handle bodily fluid and spillages in accordance with service guidelines.
* Ensure that educational establishments and grounds are opened at prescribed times and are secure at closing.
* Co‑operate with appropriate personnel and agencies to maintain premises security.
* Complete additional training as required.
* Respond to emergency call‑outs, inspect sites, liaise with authorities and contractors for repairs.
* Travel to other locations within the specified area of work; possess a current driving licence for council vehicle use.
* Execute prescribed procedures in the event of fire, flood, accident, or damage, liaising with appropriate staff and contractors.
* Provide a regular, effective service, working alone or as part of a team.
Driver’s licence required for council vehicle.
