Hwb Iechyd Cybi is looking for an experienced, organised and enthusiastic Receptionist to work in our GP Practices in Holyhead. Previous experience of working within a GP Practice would be beneficial and knowledge of the EMIS clinical system is desirable; however training can be given. The demands of a GP practice can change on a daily basis and this role will be challenging.


Main duties

* The post holder will be booking appointments and dealing with patient queries; therefore excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner are required.
* Proficient IT skills (including experience of Microsoft Office) are also required, as the post holder will undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the practices, including some data inputting.
* The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a healthcare setting or a customer service environment, but full training can be given to the right candidate.
* The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Essential criteria

* Good standard of education
* NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent qualification/experience


Desirable criteria

* ECDL
* IT qualification or word processing (e.g. RSA 2 or equivalent experience)


Essential Criteria


Experience / Skills / Knowledge

* Experience of using Microsoft Office packages
* Experience of working in a busy reception or office environment
* Experience of dealing with the public on the phone and face to face
* Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
* Ability to input information onto a computer system with speed and accuracy
* Ability to deal with a number of different tasks simultaneously
* Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing
* Ability to resolve issues ‘on the spot’ using own judgement
* An understanding of confidentiality involved with post
* Knowledge of a range of administrative processes


Desirable criteria

* Experience of using an IT system (e.g. EMIS, Oracle, WPAS)
* Experience of working in a GP surgery or an NHS office environment
* Shorthand skills
* Knowledge of medical terminology
