The Hope Project is a male suicide prevention initiative supporting men aged 30-64 across BNSSG. We are recruiting an experienced and organized Project Worker to join our small, friendly team. The role involves working collaboratively with colleagues and affiliated organizations, managing a caseload of clients experiencing suicidal ideation or distress related to housing, finances, or employment. The successful candidate will provide timely emotional and practical support to help reduce these feelings.


Main duties of the job

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in the field of suicide prevention and make a meaningful difference for men in distress. You will be part of a dynamic team committed to preventing suicide in this at-risk age group. You will receive support and training to enable you to fulfill your role effectively. We seek someone with experience supporting individuals in distress, capable of working independently and as part of a team. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, attention to detail, a proactive approach, and a genuine passion for supporting people with mental health challenges or social economic stressors are essential.

Job responsibilities

* Maintain case records and data in accordance with policies
* Refer clients to relevant agencies, e.g., debt advice services
* Support clients in accessing services by contacting, accompanying, and liaising with agencies
* Support and connect clients with community resources, considering their strengths and interests to reduce isolation
* Refer onwards to services such as IAPT, domestic violence, drugs, and alcohol support
* Adhere to Second Step’s policies, procedures, values, code of conduct, and adopt a recovery-oriented approach


Person Specification


Experience

* At least two years of significant experience working with individuals with mental health needs or complex needs
* Proven experience working with individuals with multiple needs (e.g., mental health, homelessness, substance dependency, long-term conditions)
* Experience conducting needs and risk assessments and support planning
* Experience working with individuals with competing needs and priorities
* Experience with mental health issues/services, either as a user, carer, or supporter


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A disclosure check will be required to ensure suitability for the role.
