Description
FarmRight Ltd operates as Portfolio Investment Manager for the New Zealand Superannuation Fund and oversees more than 18,400 hectares of farm and orchard land across the country. An exciting opportunity has been created with the most recent acquisition of dairy land in Pendarves (20mins NE from Ashburton) to be converted to a 250 ha of Rockit and Joli Apple orchard. Growing on modern structures and utilising innovative technology and modern systems to enhance productivity and sustainability across the orchard.
Onsite development continues to scale up and as this progresses the requirement for more labour is steadily increasing.
PERMANENT POSITIONS WE ARE RECRUITING FOR NOW:
* Machinery Operators – Ideally you will have transferable skills and experience operating machinery used in planting, irrigation and general agricultural activities. In the development stage of this orchard these roles are part of a team responsible for the accurate installation of apple infrastructure such as trellis, irrigation and hail netting.
* Supervisors: - We are looking for individuals with practical agricultural experience (or similar) to supervise and support a team during the orchards development phase. This includes overseeing development activities such as structure, irrigation and hail netting installation are completed accurately and efficiently. As the orchard transitions into production these roles will shift to supervising staff in general orchard operations and guiding seasonal work activities.
* General Orchard/Labouring Hands – We seeking reliable and hardworking individuals to assist with various orchard development activities such as planting, irrigation and other development tasks. Experience is desirable or transferable from a similar working environment. These roles support the team through the development and production phases with opportunities to learn and grow in orchard operations.
DEVELOPMENT DUTIES (but not limited to):
* Installation of Orchard Trellis Structures: Setting up trellis systems, including cabling and wiring.
* Tree Training: Train trees to orchard trellis structures.
* Planting: Plant trees to specified depths and spacings.
* Machinery Operation: May be required to operate various types of orchard machinery such as hydraladas, tractors, diggers safely and efficiently (training will be provided).
* Adherence to Health and Safety Standards: Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
* Other Duties: Carry out any other reasonable instructions from supervisors and management.

* Ability to perform physical labour in various weather conditions;
* Willingness to learn and follow instructions;
* Previous experience in rural work is advantageous but not essential;
* Must have permanent rights to work in New Zealand.
