About the Role
As Interim Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading the technology function through a period of significant transformation. Working directly with the Chief Product Officer and the executive team you will deliver on three key priorities:
1. Future Technology Scoping: You will lead the development of a comprehensive scoping exercise that outlines the future technology roadmap. This will include considerations for potential mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to augment their capabilities and a strategic re-platforming from legacy systems to a modern React Now architecture.
1. Legacy Development Clearance: You will oversee a strategic operational exercise to clear a backlog of legacy development tasks, updates, and deliveries. This will involve effective prioritisation, resource allocation, and collaboration across teams to ensure efficient completion.
1. Dev Ops Team Resurgence: You will take charge of the current Dev Ops team, addressing any existing dysfunctionalities and implementing strategies to stabilise operations. This will involve rebuilding a high-performing team culture, optimising workflows, and establishing best practices for software development and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and execution of a future-proof technology roadmap.
* Conduct due diligence on potential M&A opportunities from a technology perspective.
* Oversee the migration of their platform from legacy systems to React Now.
* Develop and implement a strategy to clear the backlog of legacy developments and updates.
* Manage and lead the Dev Ops team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
* Identify and implement improvements to Dev Ops processes and workflows.
* Champion best practices for software development and deployment.
* Collaborate effectively with the Chief Product Officer, executive team, and other departments.
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a senior engineering leader with a successful track record in delivering complex technical projects.
* Strong understanding of modern software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps).
* Experience in leading and motivating high-performing engineering teams.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
* Experience in conducting technical due diligence for M&A transactions (desirable).
* Experience with React Now development (desirable).
