Our team is developing a dynamic infrastructure to meet the evolving demands for electricity, particularly renewable energy, in a safe, secure, and sustainable manner within the communities we serve.
The Operations Completions and Warranties Lead will oversee the project completion process from the Major Projects business area into Transmissions Operations. The role will ensure a thorough transfer of all relevant operational information such as operational manuals, drawings, defect lists, warranties, and performance bonds necessary for the ongoing management, operation, and maintenance of the new assets.
Projects transitioned to Transmission Operations represent multi-million-pound investments, and this role will provide clear oversight of the transfer of critical information to ensure the effective maintenance and operation of these assets and equipment in the future.
What you'll be doing
1. Define and plan with Major Projects the processes necessary to ensure the effective continuation of contracts related to project defects, including warranties and performance bond obligations.
2. Analyse project handover data to provide regular performance review reports on the handover and completions process.
3. Manage the transfer of existing and new equipment warranties to ensure cost-efficient management within the Transmission Operation environment.
4. Lead all post-project completion warranty claims to ensure access to required repair or replacement needs with suppliers, including pursuing contractual financial penalties for latent defects.
5. Liaise with the wider business regarding all existing and new supplier and contractor performance bonds to ensure project deliverables are met and bonds retained when required.
6. Work with the Operations Teams to assess asset condition near the end of defect liability periods to minimise future maintenance and repair costs.
7. Liaise with Scottish Power Legal to escalate any potential and actual claims related to contracts and warranties, ensuring their timely management.
8. Monitor and track large numbers of warranties and performance bonds.
9. Manage pre-handover processes of incoming project completions.
10. Liaise with professionals to support the performance management of contracts and warranty claims.
11. As part of the Operational Risk Team in Network Operations, assist, contribute, and support the wider team as required to ensure the team can meet their objectives.
What you'll bring
* Knowledge and experience of best practices within contract management (NEC3/4, FIDIC).
* Experience working across high-value construction projects.
* Experience in managing commercial/legal disputes.
* Ability to design new and review existing processes and procedures.
* Effective liaison with project managers, legal, and procurement professionals.
* Ability to foster positive relationships with contractors and suppliers.
* Ability to identify and mitigate potential risks.
* Ability to assess issues and recommend business solutions.
