The Failsafe Officer quality assurance processes are responsible for the oversight of patient management from front-end registration to ensuring adequate database validation and cleansing.
Failsafe is essential to safeguard Diabetic Eye Screening Programme patients as they move through the complex diabetic eye screening programme care pathway, escalating concerns or omissions to local DESP managers in accordance with policies and procedures. This will be achieved by ongoing data audits, list validations, and liaising with multiple stakeholders, following the policies and procedures, and regularly auditing for compliance.
* Creation, editing, and maintenance of clinical locations and the appointment schedule, ensuring all eligible patients are offered screening as per NDESP guidelines.
* Provide telephone support for patients regarding their appointments, including booking, rearrangement, and cancellation in line with programme requirements.
* Validation and cleansing of the single collated list.
* Have oversight of the patient cohort to ensure all patients are accounted for and regularly audited (including but not limited to: opted out; medically unfit; not diabetic; pregnant). This includes liaising with stakeholders involved with patient care, such as GPs, practice nurses, administrative teams, Diabetologists, Obstetricians, and Paediatricians.
* Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure all patients are in the correct pathway, supported by systematic auditing and tracking.
* Liaise with Hospital Eye Services to ensure referred patients receive an initial appointment within NDESP criteria and track their status to ensure they return to the care of the DESP on discharge from hospital eye services.
