Pertemps is recruiting for a Design Team Leader on behalf of our client. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage a small but highly skilled design team, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards. Working closely with other departments, you will drive innovation, mentor team members, and oversee the full product lifecycle – from concept to delivery.
* £55,000 (DOE)
* Based in Clevedon, BS21
* Mon-Fri / 8am-5pm / Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days WFH)

* Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary design team.
* Manage project planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
* Take a hands-on approach to hardware system design, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
* Support the introduction of new products and improve existing designs.
* Ensure quality, compliance, and commercial goals are achieved across all projects.
* Collaborate with production, test, and service teams to ensure a robust design process.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
* Degree in Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics, Embedded Systems, or equivalent.
* Proven experience in hardware system design.
* Strong experience in schematic and PCB layout (OrCad preferred).
* Skilled in electrical test equipment (PSUs, load banks, DMM/DVM, oscilloscopes/ analyzers, signal/function generators).
* Creative and methodical design and testing approach with strong fault-finding skills.
* Knowledge of software IDEs, development boards, and emulators (advantageous).
* Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, OneNote, Word, Excel, Teams/SharePoint).
* Experience with Agile tools (e.g., JIRA) and 123 Insight (advantageous).
Skills:
* Good understanding of power electronics in product design.
* System design skills.
* Good specification writing skills.
* Strong IT skills.
