This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic finance professional to step into the Senior Accountant - Financial Strategy role within the Strategic Finance team. Job Description
This role is critical to maintaining high performance within the council, working with senior leaders at the heart of strategic decision-making to deliver a complex portfolio of work. The ideal candidate will play a central role in the finance service, joining a team of three reporting to the Finance Manager - Financial Strategy. Responsibilities include:
* Leading, building, and developing the Medium-Term Financial Strategy
* Providing strategic, technical, and specialist financial advice to senior management
* Partnering with stakeholders across services and functions on financial planning and management
* Analyzing spending plans and pressures
* Overseeing revenue streams including grants and council tax
* Supporting budget planning and monitoring
* Providing insights and advice to boards and leadership teams
* Contributing to financial reporting and statutory returns
The Successful Applicant
· Part or Fully Qualified Accountant (e.g., CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
· Experience in the Public Sector
· Experience in strategic or finance business partnering
· Ability to influence non-finance stakeholders
· Innovative problem-solving skills
· Strong relationship-building and collaborative skills
· Risk and performance management capabilities
· Ability to work in high-performing, matrix-managed teams
