Overview
Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a dedicated and proactive Ward Housekeeper to join our clinical team. This is a vital role that supports the delivery of high-quality patient care by ensuring the ward environment is consistently clean, safe, and welcoming. Closing date: 23 October 2025.

Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
* Coordinate all facilities services in the ward/department area, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and safety
* Support the delivery of key national and local standards, such as Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment audits, mattress audits, Food and Hygiene standards, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points
* Assist the Matron and Ward Leader in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the ward
* Identify and rectify problems promptly, reporting issues to the Ward Leader and Housekeeping Services Department as necessary
* Perform spot cleaning, including swift and efficient handling of spillages and regular checks of sanitary areas
* Maintain the ward''s appearance by removing clutter, tidying notice boards, attending to storage requirements, and ensuring signage meets PEAT environmental standards
* Ensure the upkeep and appearance of patient bed areas
* Keep the linen trolley adequately stocked and order replacements as needed
* Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained throughout the ward

Knowledge Requirements

Qualifications Academic/ Craft/ Professional
* Educated to a good standard of general education equivalent to GCSE Maths and English Level C or above
Further Training
* Basic Health and Safety awareness
* Customer Care Training/Awareness
* Any training pertaining to the post
Experience
* Experience of dealing with and working alongside a wide range of people
* An ability to demonstrate practical and organisational skills
* Experience of working within a team
* Previous experience in NHS and/or other care settings
Contractual Requirements
* Flexible (post may require some shift working including the occasional evening/weekend or bank holiday)
* Punctual
