AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice has a vacancy in our Newcastle office covering the Northeast region, for a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor / Senior Building Surveyor. The role involves working in a multi-disciplinary environment to deliver a full suite of Building Surveying duties, with varied and interesting projects for high-profile public and private clients.
This position offers excellent prospects for an individual eager to progress, enjoys teamwork, and has experience managing client relationships and legal/technical issues.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Senior Chartered or Senior Building Surveyor with post-qualification experience to develop their career within a forward-thinking organization.
Responsibilities:
* Managing multiple projects across different sectors, providing building surveying and project management duties. Experience with Local Authority or Government agencies is advantageous.
* Supporting business development and client relationship management.
Additional duties include:
* Project management and Contract Administration for larger projects.
* Conducting condition and measured surveys.
* Designing and managing small to medium-sized projects.
* Applying standard building contracts such as JCT and NEC.
* Staying updated on industry best practices and developments.
* Performing defect analysis, building surveys, and preparing reports and specifications.
* Mentoring junior surveyors and participating in APC training.
* Ensuring quality, safety, and environmental standards in project management.
* Networking to enhance AtkinsRéalis' local presence and business opportunities.
* Leading bid development and project instructions.
* Acting as principal designer and providing project management services.
Requirements:
* BSc (Honors) in Building Surveying from an RICS-accredited program or similar.
* Membership of RICS, MCIOB, or similar is desirable but not mandatory.
* Proven all-round surveying experience with client-facing and work-winning skills.
* Experience leading multidisciplinary refurbishment and extension projects up to approximately £1m capex.
* Knowledge of pre- and post-contract project management.
* Strong communication and team skills; willingness to travel.
* Proficiency in Word, Excel, AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
* Ability to manage and mentor team members, including APC candidates.
* Understanding of Health and Safety, including CDM 2015, and experience as Principal Designer is advantageous.
