This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, forward-thinking trainee who wishes to develop higher-level skills in the acute setting within a teaching hospital.
The Trust is looking to appoint a Chief Registrar to follow on from its successful previous cohorts. These posts are supported by the Royal College of Physicians and Health Education England and aim to help trainees develop key skills for their future as a consultant.
The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Chief Registrar Programme is a healthcare management and leadership training initiative for senior trainees emerging as healthcare leaders. It is part of the Future Hospital Programme, established to implement the 2012 Future Hospital Commission recommendations. A key recommendation was to establish the Chief Registrar—a senior role focused on leading and coordinating medical care 24/7 to optimize patient and service outcomes using available healthcare resources.
The ‘Chief Registrar’ role combines senior clinical training with healthcare leadership and management development, offering a unique personal growth opportunity. Across participating organisations, the RCP envisions that this role will contribute to activities such as managing services, coordinating medical care, quality and service improvement, education and training, service redesign, and workforce transformation.
We are seeking a Chief Registrar to join our progressive team with a clear vision to deliver patient-centered, innovative care. There are two Chief Registrar posts within Acute General Medicine; one has already been filled.
