Overview:
An opportunity to lead the delivery of a complex aerospace research and technology programme, ensuring successful execution against agreed objectives, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder requirements. Reporting to the Boeing Programme Lead, the role is responsible for managing a portfolio of projects, coordinating technical teams and external partners, and ensuring programme commitments are delivered in line with contractual, organisational, and government expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, schedule, budget, and performance objectives.
* Develop and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, resource allocations, and delivery schedules in collaboration with Project Controllers and key stakeholders.
* Monitor programme budgets, forecasts, and expenditure to ensure effective financial management and cost control.
* Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities, implementing appropriate mitigation and escalation strategies where required.
* Support engineering and technical teams to ensure research activities, technical deliverables, and programme milestones are achieved in accordance with agreed requirements.
* Coordinate procurement and subcontract activities, working closely with technical leads, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Business Support teams.
* Lead multidisciplinary project teams and consortium partners, fostering collaboration, communication, and high-performance delivery.
* Manage project governance activities, including reporting, documentation, change control, meeting management, and stakeholder communications.
* Produce and deliver high-quality programme reports and updates to internal leadership, consortium partners, and UK Government stakeholders.
* Coordinate multiple interrelated projects to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, schedules, and programme requirements.
* Monitor project performance through key execution metrics, ensuring timely corrective action where required.
* Escalate programme risks, issues, and delivery concerns to senior leadership in a proactive and timely manner.
* Ensure compliance with applicable governance frameworks, documentation standards, ethical requirements, and Boeing policies.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience managing complex engineering, research, or technical programmes from initiation through to delivery.
* Strong project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management capabilities.
* Experience managing government-funded programmes and delivering formal reporting to government organisations and stakeholders.
* Excellent risk, issue, and opportunity management skills.
* Strong stakeholder management abilities, with experience engaging technical teams, senior leadership, external partners, and customers.
* Experience coordinating multiple projects within a portfolio environment to achieve wider strategic objectives.
* Ability to translate technical progress into measurable project outcomes, milestones, and deliverables.
* Knowledge of procurement, subcontract management, and commercial processes.
* Strong leadership, communication, team management, and conflict resolution skills.
* Experience working within regulated environments and adhering to governance, compliance, and documentation requirements.
Preferred Background:
* Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, Science, or a related discipline.
* Professional Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP.
* Previous experience within aerospace, defence, advanced engineering, or complex R&D programmes.
* Experience working with UK Government departments, Innovate UK (IUK), ATI, or other publicly funded programmes.
* Eligible to obtain relevant security clearance.
